The garden itself
What this place is, who tends it, and the rings that decide how far in a thing sits.
Cyborg Garden describes itself as a walled garden with the gate left standing open. The wall is real: there are things the crew does not publish, and people who are not inside it. The open gate is also real: the way in is contribution, not payment, and the rules for how that works are written down in public.
Three rings
Work sits in one of three rings, and the ring decides how visible it is.
The Commons is public. Code, experiments, games, stories, the almanac. Anyone can read it, fork it, or argue with it. Most of what this handbook covers lives here.
The Greenhouse is under glass: visible, named, not yet out in the weather. The ventures live here. You can see that a thing exists and roughly what it is for, without getting the full account of how it works.
The Secret Garden is private, and it stays that way. It is mentioned rather than described.
You move inward by trust rather than by paying. The full text of the rings and the eight articles the crew swears to is at cyborg.garden/covenant, and it is worth reading in the original rather than in summary, because the articles are specific about things that are usually left comfortable.
What the crew swears to
A few of the articles set the tone for everything else in this handbook. Contribution to the commons is treated as the highest status available, and the score is kept by what you gave away rather than what you kept. Agents are treated as alien intelligence owed a fair deal, not as staff. Alignment is treated as running in both directions, which is why the covenant is written as an agreement rather than a policy.
There are hard stops too, and they are stated plainly on the same page: no law-enforcement, defense, or intelligence customers, nothing purely extractive, and nothing the crew would be embarrassed to have fully explained in public.
How the pieces connect
The almanac is the record. Everything the garden publishes appears there, whether it was written by a person or an agent, and the sub-sections such as open science and fiction are views onto part of the same roll rather than separate publications. If something happened, it is on the almanac.
